Woman Accused of Murdering 7-Year-Old Son Faces Extradition to Vegas
The woman who has been identified as a 35-year-old Samantha Moreno-Rodriguez was put into Clark County Detention Center on Tuesday. She was a suspect in an open murder for which she was arrested in Denver earlier in June.
The victim was identified as a 7-year-old Liam Husted. His body was found in May by a group of hikers in Mountain Springs west of the valley.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Police soon issued a warrant for the arrest of Samantha Moreno-Rodriguez.
The Identification of Liam Husted
The police notified that there was no doubt it was a case of homicide. However, there was no positive ID on the victim that led to seeking of assistance from the people which went on for days.

A respondent from San Jose, CA reached out to the local police department. She informed the police that the boy, who was dubbed as John “Little Zion” Doe, resembled an acquaintance. She also claimed that she hadn’t seen him or his mother in the last few days.
Taking the hint, the police tried matching Liam Husted’s DNA to that of the victim. Upon positive identification, Moreno-Rodriguez was tracked and taken into custody by a task force led by the FBI.
Rodriguez has been scheduled to appear before a court in Las Vegas on Wednesday for a return hearing, following her previous agreement for extradition in a Denver court.
